Royal Enfield ties up with custom-builders. Four custom-built motorcycles revealed

Royal Enfield has collaborated with four custom builders across India in a bid to promote motorcycle personalisation. The list of customer builders includes - Inline Three, TNT Motorcycles, Bull City Customs and Bombay Custom Works.

With this tie up, Royal Enfield's models: Classic 500 and Continental GT have been curated into unique custom motorcycles reflecting the spirit of personalisation.

Each of these four motorcycle design brands have added their uniqueness in the design of these bikes. The modifications that have been done are mainly aesthetics as the performance bit has been left unchanged.

Royal Enfield clarified that this is purely a collaboration and that it is not selling the customized bikes. The tie-up with the designers is to promote the motorcycle customising in India. However, the company has launched T-shirts and Gear products which will be available at existing dealerships, company stores, exclusive gear stores (EGS), online gear store (OGS) shop-in-shop (SIS) and e-commerce portals Flipkart and Myntra.

Honda launches Cliq 110 cc automatic scooter at INR 42,499/-

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched a new 110cc Scooter - Honda Cliq at Rs 42,499 (Ex-Delhi). The Cliq was showcased as a design concept at the Auto Expo 2016. The scooter is  powered by a 110 cc BS-IV engine which produces a power of 8 bhp and 8.94 NM of torque.


Honda Cliq gets a wide footboard and sufficient under-seat storage capacity. For the first time, the company has also introduced tubeless Block Pattern Tyres which claims to give extra grip on patchy roads.

Honda Cliq will be manufactured at the company's plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan and will go on sale first in Rajasthan followed by a phase-wise launch in other states.

Honda Cliq gets the trusted 110 cc BS-IV engine which sheds out a power of 8 bhp and 8.94 NM of torque. The kerb weight of the scooter is 102kgs.

The scooter is also equipped with Honda CBS (Combi Brake System) technology.  The Cliq will be available with four colour options (Red, Black, Blue, Grey) and with many optional accessories.

One Day DIY Avenger Maintenance Workshop organised by AMC, Pune

Avenger Motorcycle Club (AMC) Pune in association with technwheelz organised a one day DIY Avenger maintenance workshop on June 11, 2017 at Kondwa, Pune.



Chinmay Dangre, Technical Head of technwheelz,  was the trainer for DIY workshop in which 15 bikers  participated with full enthusiasm. The workshop had both theory and hands-on practice session which helped the participants to develop and understanding the basics of motorcycle maintenance that goes beyond reading a book or service manuals.

Moreover FAQ session was also organised after the workshop in which participants interacted about motorcycle technologies.

Richard Hammond survives crash while filming ' The Grand Tour' driving show

Richard Hammond, the former Top Gear presenter, was involved in a harrowing crash where his car burst into flames today. Hammond, who was filming scenes for 'The Grand Tour' series for Amazon.

Richard Hammond was driving the $1m Rimac Concept One electric super car then went off the road and slid down the hillside, where it later caught fire. He escaped serious injury and was airlifted to hospital after climbing out of the car on his own.

It was Hammond’s second crash in three months while filming The Grand Tour series for Amazon. In March, he was knocked unconscious after falling off a motorbike in Mozambique.



 

The Rimac Concept One, made in Croatia, costs nearly $1 million and was designed to help promote the zero-emission Formula E motor sport. The car is capable of doing 0-100 kmph in 2.5 seconds. The electric motor produces 1224 hp and 1600 Nm of torque, propelling it to a top speed of 355 kmph.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

Jeep Compass bookings open. Launch expected on June 17, 2017

Jeep dealerships have started accepting bookings for their Compass SUV. Launch expected to happen by 16th or 17th June 2017.

According to a report by Financial Express, a dealership in Delhi has started accepting bookings for the Compass SUV with a token amount of INR 50,000. The SUV is expected to be launch by 16th or 17th June 2007. The dealership also confirmed that the starting price of the Compass will range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

The Jeep Compass will be powered by a 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine will generate 160 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque while the diesel engine will produce a little more than 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque. As per the dealership, the petrol engine will be available only with a  7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, while the diesel motor will be mated only to a six-speed manual transmission.

The petrol manual and diesel automatic versions will join the portfolio later. Higher versions of the Compass should also be available with an all-wheel drive system with four modes, Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud. In terms of dimensions, the Compass measures 4,410 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,630 mm.

The design cues of the Compass have been taken from other Jeep models sold in India, the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler. Equipment list on the first India-made premium SUV from Jeep will include projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), LED tail lamps and black 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, it is expected to get a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with steering mounted audio and phone controls.
