2018 Suzuki Jimny - Maruti Suzuki Gypsy replacement details leaked

Here are the leaked images of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny - Maruti Suzuki Gypsy replacement posted on a Italian magazine.

The all-new Jimny was expected to make its global debut at the 2017 Tokyo motor show but it now seems the first public showing will be at a global motor show next year, possibly the 2018 Geneva motor show.

The new Jimny will come built on a ladder- frame chassis. Like the earlier Jimnys, the new model will have a small footprint which should give it excellent approach, departure and ramp break-over angles. So far, only a three-door hard-top version has been seen, but a larger five-door model and soft-top variants are expected as well.

The interior seems to have taken several components from Suzuki's existing bin, sharing parts with the new generation Suzuki Swift among other models.

There are also many reports that suggest that the Jimny would be built in India, at Maruti’s Sanand factory in Gujarat. India could also become this compact SUV’s global export hub.

According to preliminary reports, the Jimny will be equipped with a 1.2-liter 92-horsepower petrol engine and a 1 liter-3 cylinder BoosterJet turbocharged unit.  A Hybrid variant is also rumoured to be introduced at launch. The off-roader will be have an all-wheel drive layout as standard.
