GM India recalls Beat diesel hatchback over faulty clutch pedal lever

General Motors India announced a recall of 1,01,597 units of Chevrolet Beat diesel hatchback. The recall will enable them to inspect the clutch pedal lever which is susceptible to cracking on continuous usage and if necessary will be replaced.

The recall affects the Beat diesel produced between December 2010 and July 2014. The company has started voluntarily notifying owners of the Beat Diesel to take their cars to any of Chevrolet's 248 authorized service centers across India.

This is the third recall announced by a car maker in India within a fortnight. In July, the company had recalled 1.55 lakh units of Spark, Beat and Enjoy vehicles to fix problems related to a remote key-less entry accessory that allows opening of cars without a mechanical key. This was company's biggest recall in India.

The affected vehicles will be repaired free of charge at Chevrolet's authorized service centers across the country. Alternatively, customers can also contact their nearest Chevrolet dealership and schedule an appointment for vehicle inspection and correction. The company is working closely with their service network to make the entire inspection and correction exercise as smooth as possible.
