Tata Zica launch date officially announced

Tata Motors will be launching the Zica hatchback on January 20, 2016. Expected to be priced between Rs 3.59 lakh and Rs 5.59 lakh, the Zica will compete against the likes of  Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Hyundai i10.

Codenamed the Tata Kite, the Zica gets its name from “Zippy Car” and will replace the Indica in India’s passenger car market. The car has been built all-new from the ground up on an completely new platform.

The Zica hatchback will be powered by  a newly developed 3-cylinder, 1.2-liter all-aluminium petrol engine. This is the first time that Tata is using an all-aluminium engine which has helped it reduce overall weight of the car.

The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.05 litre engine 3-cylinder Revotorq engine - downsized version of Tata’s 1.4-liter engine generates 70 PS power @ 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm @ 100-3000 rpm.
