Kawasaki India launches Versys 650 ABS @ INR 6.60 lakh

Kawasaki India, launched the Versys 650 priced at Rs 6.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Versys 650 is the smaller displacement version of the already available Versys 1000 and will compete in the middle-weight motorcycle market.

The Versys 650 is more of an adventure sport touring motorcycle than an out-and-out adventure tourer.

It is powered by a  four-stroke, 649cc, parallel-twin,  liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine. The engine has a four valve per cylinder layout and houses dual overhead camshafts. It pumps out 68.1 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 6.5 kgm at 7,500rpm.

The Versys 650 looks nearly identical to its larger sibling, the Versys 1000. The Versys name is derived from the words 'versatile' and 'system' and the Versys 650 has lived up to its name in international markets since the time it was first launched in 2007. The bike has been upgraded several times with the latest update in the 2015 model.

The Versys 650 features  long travel upside down suspension at the front, upright seating position and 17-inch wheels. The height of the windscreen can be adjusted by 2 inches.

The Versys 650 gets anti-lock braking system which is not available on the Ninja 650R and ER-6n.

The Versys 650 will be manufactured in Thailand and will be brought into the country as CKD kits. It will be sold through the existing Bajaj Probiking network across the country.
