2016 Jaguar XF launched with prices starting at Rs 49.50 lakh

Jaguar has launched the second-generation XF sedan in India, with prices starting at Rs 49.5 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). The new XF will take on the likes of Volvo’s S90, the Mercedes E-class and the BMW 5-series.

With the new XF, JLR debuts  brand new 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine capable of producing 177hp and 430Nm of torque. This engine is available on Pure, Prestige and top-spec Portfolio trims.

A 2.0-litre petrol engine, which produces 237hp and 340Nm of torque  is standard on the Prestige and Portfolio trims. Jaguar claims, the XF with the diesel engine can go from 0-100kph in 8.1 seconds, while the one powered by the petrol engine can do the same in seven seconds.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox sends power to the rear wheels.

Jaguar has also equipped the new XF with ‘Jaguar Drive Control’, which allows one to select between four driving modes - Standard, Eco, Dynamic or Rain/Ice/Snow. The modes alter the way the steering, throttle and the gearbox work.

With a wheelbase which is 51mm longer than before and offers  more rear legroom, rear knee room and headroom than before. The car also features as much as 70 percent of aluminium in its construction, which the car 190kg lighter and nearly 30 percent stiffer than its predecessor.
