Piaggio Vespa launches its first online store on Snapdeal

Vespa becomes the first scooter brand to launch its online store in collaboration with Snapdeal.com in India. Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. – the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group has partnered with Snapdeal, to create a platform to reach out to its internet savvy customers of Vespa.  The exclusive Vespa brand store will showcase the entire range of Vespa scooters. Vespa fans will now be able to book their Vespa on a click of a button.

To commensurate the launch of the store, Vespa has launched a special offer for the first 100 customers of the store. The Snapdeal Vespa online store has been launched today and the entire range of Vespa models available would be available at the booking amount of INR 5,000, these include Vespa, VX, Vespa S and Vespa Elegante

Vespa the European best-selling two-wheeler, has been successful in creating a niche ‘premium’ category in scooters since its India launch in April 2012.  A global brand icon of aspirational lifestyle -Vespa is among the first few automobile brands to have tapped the online retail market in a bid to attract today’s internet savvy consumers. The partnership with Snapdeal is targeted especially towards a younger segment of consumers who are digitally active and prefer purchases that provide easy access and transactions without investing much time.

The brand store has been curated keeping in mind the finer nuances associated with the Vespa brand. The layout of the brand store has been customized to offer a similar shopping experience to the user as he/she would have while shopping at an offline store. The brand store enables Piaggio to manage their product selection, promotions and launches as per their need/requirement and basis the analytics shared by Snapdeal.

Additional background information: The automobile e-commerce segment is relatively a new concept in India but this model has been used extensively in other developed markets like the USA and Europe. This sector is full of opportunities, as it is one of the fastest growing retail industries in India. The concept is sure to gain popularity in the near future as it enables manufactures to track and target relevant customer base, the turnaround time is less and the ROI is higher as virtual store setup investments are comparatively low.
