Mahindra KUV100 unveiled. On sale from 15 Jan. Hatchbacks lookout !!

Mahindra, today officially unveiled the KUV100 ( codenamed S101) trough  official renderings. The KUV100 will go on sale from  January 15, 2016. The KUV nomenclature stands for 'Kool Utility Vehicle', and will be available in four variants: K2, K4, K6 and K8.  Prices are expected to be in the range of INR 3.9 lakh to Rs 5.9 lakh.

Bookings for KUV100 will open at all dealerships across India from December 19.

Powering the Mahindra KUV100 is a new range of in-house developed "Falcon" engines, which includes 1.2-liter three cylinder petrol (mFalcon G80) which  produces 82 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 114 Nm at 3,500 Nm and the 1.2-liter three-cylinder diesel (mFalcon D75) which produces 77 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 190 Nm between 1,750-2,250 rpm.

No details on transmission options were revealed. We expect it to be offered with a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).

As far as  safety features are concerned ABS will be standard fitment, while airbags are optional across all variants.

The KUV100 has good on-road presence and with this Mahindra is targeting buyers who are looking at B-segment compact hatchbacks like the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Swift.

The Mahindra KUV100 will be manufactured at Chakan plant near Pune.
