Mahindra Mojo UT 300 launched. Its carburetted !!

Mahindra 2-Wheelers has launched the new Mojo UT 300 priced at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).  The UT badging stands for 'Universal Tourer' and Mahindra is offering a Rs 10,000 introductory benefit on the Mojo UT 300, which is valid till March 2018.

The UT 300 loses out considerably in terms of equipment in order to make it more affordable. The ongoing standard Mojo has been rebranded as the Mojo XT 300 or Xtreme Tourer 300. The UT300 will be sold alongside the XT300.

Powering the UT300 is the same 292cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine but gets a carburettor fuel system instead of fuel injection which produces 23 hp @ 7500 rpm and 25.2 Nm @ 5000 rpm. Fuel injected XT 300 produces 27hp and 30Nm of torque. The UT300 also loses out twin exhausts for a single-sided setup as seen on XT 300.

The wheelbase and ground clearance of the UT 300 is rated at 1460 mm and 165 mm compared to 1465 mm and 173.5 mm. The UT 300 rides on MRF tyres, instead of the Pirellis available on the XT 300.

Aesthetically, the bike remains identical to the XT 300 . Noticeable changes are the missing LED DRLs, which sit above the twin-pod headlights in the standard bike, and the lack of gold-coloured accents.

Priced at Rs 1.49 lakh, the UT300 costs Rs 21,000 less than the standard Mojo (XT300) that’s priced at Rs 1.70 lakh

Mahindra Thar inspired Roxor off-road only SUV unveiled in USA

Mahindra has unveiled the Mahindra Roxor off-road only SUV in United States. The off-road vehicle is heavily inspired by Mahindra Thar and will be sold under the Mahindra North America or 'MANA' in the United States.

[embed]https://youtu.be/-bAgh6MfOF8[/embed]

Mahindra Roxor will be manufactured at Mahindra's Auburn manufacturing plant in Detroit, Michigan. Prices start at $15,549, which converts to a little over Rs 10 lakhs. Considering the Thar costs about the same in Indian market, it makes for a good buy in the US.

The Roxor is a bare-bones SUV with no doors or a roof! Even the dashboard is just a dial with a white face, and headlight and horn switches. The Roxor uses a five-slat grille, unlike the typical seven-slat grille of Mahindra’s current vehicles, also seen on Jeeps. The buyers of the Roxor will be able to select from over 900 paint shades.

Everything from the exterior and interior colours, safari seats and back seats and ride heights to the hard tops, winches and side enclosures, mirrors, light bars, roofs, audio systems and even grab rails will be offered with a high level of personalisation.

The Roxor is powered by a 2.5L Turbo Diesel engine producing 62 hp and 195 Nm and is mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox. Considering this is not a street legal vehicle and falls in the off-highway category of motor vehicles in the US, top speed is limited to 72kph. The Roxor gets four-wheel-drive as standard. The suspension setup is a simpler leaf sprung rigid axles at the front and rear.

Mahindra will not retail the Roxor through a standard dealership network, but instead through a new powersports dealer network, which would help it tap into the powersports market. The model is the Indian carmakers first from the new assembly plant in southeast Michigan.  There is no word on when the Roxor will launch officially in the US, though Mahindra is expected to share more details on that towards the end of this month.

Jawa to re-enter India with 350 OHC and 660 Vintage motorcycles

Jawa seems a step closer to re-entering the motorcycle market in India. Sources* say that Jawa could re-enter India by 2018 with the 350 OHC and 660 Vintage motorcycles.

[gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="22445,22438"]

Jawa was acquired by Mahindra & Mahindra, a major name in the four-wheeler industry last year. Mahindra plans of doing research and development of the Jawa motorcycles in India. The production will take place at Mahindra’s Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh and the motorcycles will be exported to other south-eastern nations.

While Jawa has been known for two-stroke engines, the company has launched two motorcycles in Europe with four-stroke units - 350 OHC and 660 Vintage.

[caption id="attachment_22446" align="aligncenter" width="827"] Jawa 350 OHC engine[/caption]

The 350 OHC is a brand new model that pays tribute to the 350 Type 634 two-stroke from the 1970s. The 350 OHC is powered by a Euro 4 compliant, 397cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with a fuel injection system. It produces 27.7 hp at 6500 rpm and 30.6 Nm at 5000 rpm.

[caption id="attachment_22440" align="aligncenter" width="900"] 2017 Jawa Vintage 660 engine[/caption]

The 660 Vintage is not exactly a new motorcycle, but more of a street version of the 660 Sportard introduced in 2011. It was powered by a 660cc parallel twin, four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine. The 660 Vintage too produces the same power figures - 49 hp and 57.5 Nm, but has a more classic styling.

[caption id="attachment_22439" align="aligncenter" width="800"]2017 Jawa Vintage 660 2017 Jawa Vintage 660[/caption]

Detailed specifications of the motorcycle are known yet, but it does get ABS for the front disc brake. It is priced at CZK 99,930 or about INR 2.6 lakh. There is no confirmation yet whether or not Mahindra would launch the 350 OHC or the 660 Vintage in India.

If the company's announcement on bringing Jawa to India is accurate, they will be sold through Jawa dealerships across the country by 2018. If the 350 OHC is manufactured in India, it will likely be priced about the same as it is currently in the Czech Republic.
