Tata Kite5 compact sedan unveiled

Tata Motors unveiled the Kite5 compact sedan at the Auto Expo 2016. The new compact sedan will replace the Indigo eCS and will be priced lower than the Tata Zest which already exists in the sub 4-meter range.

Compared to Zica hatchback,  the Kite5 features subtle styling changes like a tweaked grille up front. Interiors and other features too are very similar to those found in Zica.

  • Based on Tata Motors new IMPACT design language

  • Coupe like silhouette.

  • First in segment integrated roof spoiler housing the high mounted stop lamp LEDs

  • Available in both petrol and diesel  engine  options.

  • Revotron 1.2L - three cylinder petrol engine delivering an optimum power of 85 PS @ 6000rpm and a maximum torque of 114 Nm @ 3500 rpm. The diesel engine is the 1.0-litre engine that makes 70PS of power and 140Nm of peak torque.

  • Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the possibility of an AMT gearbox soon.

  • The Kite5 will be available with multi-drive modes – Eco and City.

  • 15-inch alloys

  • KITE 5 measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, 1,535 mm in height and 2,450 mm in wheelbase.


  • Safety features such as the dual airbags Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Corner Stability Control (CSC)


  • Infotainment system comes with a 5” screen with video playback through USB and other features such as on screen SMS display, SMS readout and reverse parking display on the screen.


  • Steering mounted controls


  • KITE 5 is equipped with the maps from MapMyIndia and a first in segment music app called Juke-Car App (Android OS only).


The Tata Kite will take on the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Aspire and the upcoming Volkswagen Ameo. More details will surface at the time of launch of Kite5 expected later in 2017.
